EXPERTS CHECKING EXPERTS

One expert telling another they have got it wrong, in writing

Review is where a firm catches itself. A senior colleague challenges a conclusion, the author defends or revises it, and the exchange is recorded. Expertise being corrected by expertise is about as scarce as material gets.

THE CONFIDENTIALITY QUESTION

Matter identity is handled before anything moves

  1. 01

    Establish what exists

Six questions about the systems in use. Nothing is accessed at this stage.

  2. 02

    Obligations set the boundary

Reviews attached to matters you are not free to license stay outside the licence, agreed before signature.

  3. 03

    Anonymization in preparation

Identifying fields are stripped as part of preparing the data, ahead of any onward sharing.

  4. 04

    Paid on completion

Typically $100K to $2M, Net 30 to 60, once the data is approved, shared, and anonymized.

WHY REVIEW IS SO RICH

Four things that only happen when a peer pushes back

  • The challenge is specific. A reviewer does not object in general; they point at a passage and say why it fails.
  • The defence is substantive. An author either concedes or justifies, and both responses are reasoning made explicit.
  • Standards become visible. What gets flagged reveals the firm's actual threshold, as opposed to its stated one.
  • Errors are caught in the open. Near-misses are recorded rather than quietly fixed, because review creates a trail.
  • THE TRACK RECORD

    Diligence run by the principals

“Built Simplicity Solar to $35M in three years and sold it. He leads diligence on every asset we underwrite.”
    Ryan LockPartner
“Nearly three years at McKinsey, then bought a company outright and scaled it to $50M.”
